If you've visited this website before, you may have noticed that it did
not change between September 2003 and November 2005, and now it is but a
shadow of its glorious past. It merely reflects the changes in the world
of personal computers since the bursting of the technology bubble. Today
computer hardware is about as exciting as appliance manufacturing. All the
fun is gone. We mourn the passing of the glory days of innovation in high
technology.

The
Sixth Edition of the Hardware Bible remains in print. It presents 32 chapters
that explain personal computers and
peripheral technology in a style that won't put you to sleep and just may
urge out a chuckle or two. In it you'll find valuable information on wireless networking,
serial ATA, digital cameras, broadband connections and, of course, microprocessors.
You can still buy it and enjoy it, although we find it a bit dated
ourselves.

We just got notice from the publisher (okay, the notice came more than
a month ago, but we just got a chance to post this) that the fifth edition
of the Hardware Bible is now out-of-print. That can mean several
things: the copy you have is now a collectors' item (hold on to it for a
hundred years and see what that gets you); leftover copies will be
remaindered (pick up old info on the cheap); and the sixth edition is the
only one you can buy. That also means the publisher's rights to that
edition have expired, so we'll be posting it on this site for free access.
